REMINDER – We will be closed

Friday, July 1st through Monday, July 4th

 

NEW SUMMER SCHEDULE –The following changes will occur:

            Beginning Monday, June 13th:

New Classes:  9 -10am - Children, all belts – Monday and Friday

                                              10:00 – 10:30am: Lil’ Dragons – Monday and Friday

                                               No More Saturday Classes.  Last Saturday class will be June 11th.

 

The NEXT PROMOTIONAL test is Saturday, June 18th at 9am.

If you want to be looked at for testing this month, please put your name in green on the board.  You must be signed off by Friday, June 10th

Testing fees are:  Yellow stripe $25, Yellow belt through Red belt $45, Danbo $60, and are due the day of the test.

The building will open at 8:30am on test days to allow students time to warm up and stretch out before the test begins at 9am.

Future summer test days, for your planning purposes:  Sat, July 23rd and Sat, August 27th.

Due to vacations and summer schedules, we understand that testing may be difficult to make certain dates. If you plan to test during the summer we will work with you to make sure you get promoted when you are ready if you can’t make the regularly scheduled dates.

Lil’ Dragons Tests will be Tuesday, June 14th and Friday, June 17th at 5:30pm.  Please sign up at the front desk for which date you will test.  The testing fee for Lil’ Dragons is $25 and is due the night of the test.  Bring your cameras, you won’t want to miss this special event!

There will be NO regular Lil’ Dragons class these nights, only those students who are testing should come to the 5:30 class on 6/14 and 6/17.

BLACK BELT CLUB CLASSES FOR JUNE: Sai!

BBC Sais: Wednesday 15th, Wednesday 22nd, Tuesday 28th.

The classes rotate so that we can accommodate more schedules this way.  Each class is 45 minutes long and is for children and adults in the BBC.

Just a reminder:  We don’t have extra weapons to borrow, so if you do not bring your weapon to BBC class, you will take the regularly scheduled beginner class that night. 

Sais fit in your bag, so put them in there now!

SUMMER CAMP –  REGISTRATION FOR BOTH WEEKS WILL CLOSE on MON, JUNE 6th.

GEAR ORDERS – If you are waiting on t-shirts or gear, it will all be here by June 10th.  Some items are in now.  Please check and we will try to send an e-mail when it arrives. Thanks for your patience!

PICK UP YOUR BO  STAFF – We have an abundance of Bo Staffs that have been collecting in our closet.  Please pick up your staff ASAP if it is here.  Your weapons are your responsibility, please e-mail or stop by if yours is here.  Many of them are not marked and we have no idea if they belong to us or you.  Thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS SENIORS!  WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!

This is a very special year for us because we have the most seniors ever graduating, including our daughter, Miss Sarah.  All of them have made great accomplishments in leadership with academics, athletics and activities.

I asked them for a brief write up of their activities, awards and future plans.  Here is the info that I received, in alphabetical graduate order.  Please congratulate these awesome young men and women when you see them!

MR. CIARAN BRUMAGEN (PA Cyber)– Started taking classes at Dover Dragons in 2010 (he was 12, and in middle school). He earned his 3rd Dan Black Belt in December 2015.  He joined the SWAT team 4 years ago and is a black belt instructor. 

Mr Ciaran pIays on a club soccer team, as a right forward (or striker), and has been team captian for two years.

He plans to take a year off to work full time before going to college, then earn a degree in business, and marketing.

Mr Ciaran enjoys working on his novel in his spare time and after college he plans to pursue a career in sales, and being a part time writer.

MR. ALEX ECKERSLEY (Dover) – Has been at student at Dover Dragons since 2007, and earned his 1st Dan Black Belt in September, 2011. He has competed at the local, state and national levels with our tournament team.

Mr Alex thrives in the music community, playing guitar, bass guitar, drums and keyboards. He was in the Dover High School Marching Band, the concert band, the jazz band, and the house band. He also played in a Celtic Punk cover band, The Backseat Hooligans, opening for the popular Irish Punk band, The Kilmaine Saints. He is currently the bassist for a progressive rock band called Bloomstone, where he is co-writing their first album and a soundtrack for a local independent film.

Mr. Alex plans to attend Millersville University in September, majoring in Music, Business, and Technology.

MR. JOEY HELSEL (Dover) -  Has been at Dover Dragons for 7 years, and earned his 1st Dan Black Belt in June, 2012.  He joined the SWAT team 4 years ago and is a black belt instructor.  head instructor.

Mr Joey was a captain of the Dover Varsity lacrosse team and a National Honor Society officer.  He also traveled to states to compete for his school’s DECA team. 

This summer he will be helping to manage his father’s hardware store, J&W Hardware.

Mr. Joey will attend York College, to where he received multiple scholarships.  His major will be Entrepreneurship. 

MISS. SARAH KISTNER (Dover) – Was a member of our very first class as Dover Dragons TKD when she was 7 years old.  She was a member of our first SWAT team, and is now a 3rd degree black belt instructor and teaches Women’s Self- Defense seminars. She competed with our competition team on local, state, and national levels and medaled several times in the Junior National TKD Championships.

Miss Sarah will graduate with a 4.0 and is President of National Honor Society.  She was Captain of both Varsity girls Cross Country and Lacrosse teams.  She plays year round lacrosse with the York Invaders, the Lady Crusaders, Dallastown Wildcats, and West Shore Warriors. 

Miss Sarah received the President's Education award for maintaining a GPA of 3.96 or higher, the US Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete award, YAIAA Academic All-League award, and the District 3 E Jerry Brooks award for academic excellence while lettering in 2 Varsity sports in the same year. 

This summer she will work as senior lifeguard and swim instructor at Green Valley pool, where she has worked for the past 4 years. 

Miss Sarah will attend University of Findlay, where she was recruited to the women’s D2 lacrosse team, and will study Animal Sciences for a Pre-Vet major.

MISS. LOGAN MORLEY (West York) -  Has been a student at Dover Dragons for eight years ad earned her Black Belt in September, 2001.  She was a member of the SWAT team and competed on a local, state, and national level with our Olympic TKD team.

Miss Logan will be graduating with honors from West York Area High School. She is proud to say that by the end of this year, she will have a book published on the fiction market. She would like to let everyone know how amazing it has been to be able to meet all everyone at Dover Dragons, and that Taekwondo has shaped her immensely as a person. 

Miss Logan will be attending Purdue University to study Aerospace Engineering

KATIE MUMMERT (Christian School of York) – Has been working at Dover Dragons for 3 years.  She is Mrs. Tracy’s right hand woman, and will be missed immensely! 

She has attended CSY for eleven years, where she had the privilege of being the Student Senate President her senior year, and serving on the National Honor Society. 

Katie will attend Shippensburg University in the fall, to study Business and Spanish. 

MISS. EMILY STOVER (Dover) – Has been a student at Dover Dragons for 5 years and earned her 2nd Dan Black Belt in May, 2016.  She has been a member of the SWAT team for 3 years.

Miss Emily has participated with the select vocal ensemble, Renaissance, for 2 years, the received the Choral Leadership Award and was the Historian of the Concert Choir.  She has been with the Marching Band Drum line for 4 years and participated all aspects of the music department throughout High School.  She also received an Academic Achievement Award. 

Miss Emily will be attending HACC York Campus to study Business.
